The active ingredient, Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid Sodium, is a hydrophilic bile acid. At the cellular level, it modifies the composition of bile, making it less toxic to liver cells (hepatocytes). It inhibits apoptosis (programmed cell death) triggered by toxic bile salts and reduces endoplasmic reticulum stress.
